Well it's over, I have to say I'm glad about that. Suddenly I have so much more 'free' time at work! I hadn't realised how much time it would take to complete. Many people seemed to do this exercise at home but as i don't have a internet or computer i was forced to do this at work which perhaps explains why i took so much longer than everyone else.
It has been a worthwhile exercise and I have learnt about some new 'things' like Flickr & image generators and used some 'things' i had heard about already but not used like Youtube & podcasts. Of all the 23 'things' i found bloglines the best and most useful so far. I had used RSS feeds before so I didn't find the task as challenging as others but I now use my Bloglines account most days. The least useful 'things' to me were Rollyo & Zoho and the most frustrating part was trying to keep track of usernames & passwords. It would be easier to have the same passwords etc for each account but not very secure and sometimes you use an email address and other times a user name. Some passwords needed numbers as well as letters which I have trouble remembering.
What I have learnt:
Don't be afraid to ask that 'dumb' question.
You can learn a lot from colleagues and friends (and vice-versa).
I like blogs (now I understand what they are about).
Some 'things' can be fun as well as useful.
It is ok to play sometimes.
Some 'things' can be addictive! eg. Hangman on www.thefreedictionary.com !!
I would encourage other staff to complete this exercise in their own time and not to rush it.
